To many people, the idea of going to therapy can be intimidating. After our initial phone conversation, the therapist will send you some paperwork to fill out and bring to our first session. This paperwork will give the therapist a brief overview of why you are seeking counseling and also outline the policies and procedures of the office. When you come for our session together, you will be greeted in our waiting room. Once our session begins, the therapist will ask you to share what brought you to this point and ask you to elaborate beyond what you shared in our phone consult. In order to get the most out of our time together, our only request is that you remain open and honest about how you feel. And don’t be afraid to ask questions. The more you understand the process the more comfortable you will feel. From there we will begin to unpack what has been going on and how the sessions from this point forward can help you address your needs and get to the place you want to be.
Our therapists are trained in a variety of psychotherapy frameworks and have an array of, specialty areas (see: Services). In addition, have a background in evangelical Christian theology. The therapists incorporate the best of psychological theory which includes a variety of theoretical models and combine it, if desired, with a Biblical foundation in order to give you the best possible outcome. Our goal is to help you understand who you are on the deepest level and who God called you to be so that you can live life with intention and purpose.

Insurance
SKC is in-network with a variety of insurance plans.
When we are in-network with your plan, you are typically responsible only for your copayment or coinsurance, depending on your specific benefits.
We also offer:
- Courtesy billing for NYSHIP clients
- Superbills for all other insurance plans to submit for potential out-of-network reimbursement
Coverage and out-of-pocket costs vary by plan. Our administrative team is happy to assist with benefit verification prior to beginning services.
Private Pay
For clients who choose not to use insurance, or whose plans are out-of-network, our private pay rate is $150 per 55-minute therapy session. Payment is due at the time of service.
No Surprises Act / Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, clients who are not using insurance or who are self-pay have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of services.
A Good Faith Estimate outlines the anticipated charges for therapy services and is provided upon request or prior to the start of services. Please note that actual charges may vary depending on the number of sessions attended or changes to the treatment plan.
If you have questions our team is happy to discuss this with you.
We are in network with the following insurance carriers: United Health Care, Cigna, Oxford, Aetna, 1199, and Northwell- Tier 1.
We accept NYSHIP using out of network benefits.
We are out of network with all other insurances. If you have out of network benefits, your sessions may still qualify for reimbursement.
For the convenience of our clients we can give you a superbill so you can submit it to your insurance provider for reimbursement at your request. Please be sure to call your insurance carrier and verify benefits prior to your first appointment and check with your insurance directly to see if you have out of network (OON) mental health benefits.
If your insurance plan requires pre-authorization for services, please call the member service number (on the back of your insurance card) prior to your first appointment. Here are a few of the questions you will need to ask your insurance provider.
- Do I have mental health benefits?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
- Is Sharon Klein LCSW PC group practice in network?
- How much does my plan cover for an out-of-network provider?
- What is the coverage amount per counseling session?
- Is approval required from my primary care physician?

Our administrative team will work with you to help find the therapist who is the best fit for your needs, preferences, and availability.
